Radon can affect how the cells in our body replicate. Usually, this makes the cell unable to replicate as the cell’s instructions become damaged. In some cases, however, it causes the cell to replicate uncontrollably, becoming cancer.

While Radon gas is commonly found in nature, it is able to dissipate in the air and never reaches concentrations that can be an issue. According to Public Health Ontario, there are about 850 deaths per year related to Radon-induced lung cancer.
